What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis is a leading evidence based treatment for individuals on the autism spectrum. The goal of ABA is to teach and have individuals become independent. Divinity ABA uses the Assent Model of ABA also known as 'Today's ABA'. Divinity ABA focuses on several aspects of ABA programming.

Early intervention programs focus on developing core abilities in a sequential order that aligns with expected developmental stages to prepare our youngest clients for future learning and development. As clients approach school age, therapy shifts towards adapting to new situations and developing necessary skills for success. This includes reducing problematic behaviors and increasing replacement behaviors. As clients progress out of early intervention and into more school age needs, our therapy shifts and focus more on Communication Skill Development. We help children enhance their communication skills, including expressing their needs and understanding others, which can lead to better interaction with peers and adults. Building Social Skills Development. We guide clients through activities that teach them how to build friendships, understand and practice good sportsmanship, and navigate various social interactions. We facilitate opportunities for children to practice and develop essential skills in personal hygiene, communication, and self-care. These foundational skills foster a sense of independence and self-confidence.
At Divinity ABA, our mission is to help every child reach their full potential by creating a supportive and nurturing environment, empowering families, and providing compassionate, individualized, evidence-based autism treatment.
Frequenty Asked Questions
What is ABA therapy and how does it work?

ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It helps improve specific behaviors, like communication, social skills, and learning, often used for individuals with autism.
It works by breaking down skills into small, manageable steps and using positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors. Progress is tracked and strategies are adjusted based on data.
Does my child need a diagnosis before they can get ABA Therapy?
A developmental pediatrician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or medical doctor can diagnose your child with Autism, which is required for our services.
What kinds of goals will be worked on with my child?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is commonly used to support individuals with autism, and improves specific behaviors such as communication, social skills, and learning.
What does ABA look like?
ABA therapy looks like a fun and structured way of helping your child learn new skills. A therapist works one-on-one with your child, using play, praise, and small rewards to teach things like communication, following directions, or daily routines. It’s personalized to your child
How long will my child need ABA Therapy?
Every child is different, so the length of ABA therapy depends on your child’s unique needs and goals. Some children benefit from a few hours a week for a short time, while others may need more intensive support over months or years. Your team will regularly check progress and adjust the plan as your child grows and learns.
Will my child get a custom therapy schedule or is it the same for every child?
Your child will get a custom therapy schedule tailored to their specific needs, strengths, and goals—it's never a one-size-fits-all approach.
How will I know if ABA therapy is working?
You’ll know ABA therapy is working by tracking your child's progress through regular updates from the BCBA. You’ll see improvements in skills like communication, behavior, and daily routines, and the therapist will adjust the plan based on how your child is doing.
Do parents participate and can I observe sessions?
Family/caregiver guidance sessions incorporate parent participation. These sessions include reviewing your child's progress and learning strategies for teaching your child at home.
How does payment work, and do you accept my insurance?

Most insurance plans in Texas cover ABA therapy. Coverage details like copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums vary depending on your specific plan.
I’ve heard mixed things about ABA-can you explain your approach?
We use a respectful, child-centered approach to ABA therapy, focusing on positive reinforcement and your child's comfort level. You're always involved, and we adjust based on your child's needs.
Are your team members certified or licensed?
In the state of Texas, all BCBA's are licensed by the state and certified by the BACB. Additionally, technicians are registered with the BACB.
What settings are options and which is best for my child?
While Divinity uses a clinic model, our BCBA's can provide family/caregiver sessions in the home and consult with schools and other providers.
What happens if my child has a meltdown or refuses to participate during therapy?
If your child has a meltdown or refuses to participate, the therapist will stay calm and use gentle strategies to help them feel safe and supported. We focus on understanding the cause of their behavior and may take breaks, adjust activities, or offer comfort to help them regain control. The goal is always to make therapy a positive experience, respecting your child’s needs and pace.
Why should we choose your center over another?
Our owner is involved in daily operations and interacts with families and staff. Divinity ABA is a pediatric therapy center with leadership that has over a decade of experience in the industry.
What happens when my child doesn’t need ABA therapy anymore?
When your child no longer needs ABA therapy, they will have the skills needed to succeed. The therapist will gradually reduce sessions and give you strategies to maintain progress at home.
How soon can we start therapy and what do I need to do to get started?
A BCBA will assess your child and recommend treatment hours and goals after a medical professional diagnoses your child. Your child can begin treatment as early as 2 weeks after this evaluation.
What does the intake process look like?
To start the intake process, your insurance company will verify your eligibility and benefits. Then, a BCBA will prepare for your child's assessment. To do so, parents/caregivers will be asked to complete paperwork and sign client agreements.
Does your center offer other services in addition to ABA Therapy?
We will soon offer occupational therapy, speech therapy, and counseling services for parents and siblings.
How many hours per week will my child receive ABA?
The number of hours your child will receive ABA therapy is typically based on their individual needs and goals, as well as what is medically necessary. A healthcare provider or therapist will assess your child’s progress and recommend the right amount of therapy, which could range from a few hours a week to more intensive sessions. This plan will be adjusted as your child progresses.
Is it okay for my child to be in speech therapy too?
Your child is absolutely encouraged to participate in other therapies that are recommended by their providers.
How do you handle privacy and confidentiality?
Divinity is committed to keeping PHA confidential. All emails are encrypted and specifics about your child’s individual case are kept confidential.
What is the difference between a BCBA and an RBT?
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) has undergone over 40 hours of training, received on-site training from senior technicians and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and passed a comprehensive exam.
A BCBA has a Master's degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), at least 2,000 hours of clinical experience and training, and has passed a comprehensive board exam.
Do you use positive reinforcement?
ABA prioritizes positive reinforcement, focusing on reinforcing desired behaviors to encourage your child to repeat them.
What kind of behaviors do you focus on reducing or replacing?
ABA therapy concentrates on increasing or decreasing target behaviors. When the goal is to decrease a behavior, we introduce a replacement behavior that serves the same function. Communication is an example of a behavior that we may focus on increasing.
